Kagaku-Dojin Publishing Company, Inc. was set up in September 1954 for the purpose of issuing a monthly periodical called “Kagaku”(Chemistry). It was funded by the following volunteers: Munio Kotake, then professor of Osaka University who named the company, Ryutaro Tsuchida, Ichiro Sakurada, Ryohei Oda, Minoru Imoto , Takashi Kubota, Toshiaki Sone and Teiichi Ueshita. Since then readership has grown, with Issue No. 692 appearing in January 2009. Kagaku-Dojin also focuses on publications like “Bessatsu Kagaku”(An Additional Volume of Chemistry) and other books, and it celebrated its 50th anniversary in September 2004. The basic philosophy of Kagaku-Dojin has always been ‘Quality content with comprehensible description'. Keeping this motto in mind, and not merely in the pursuit of profit, it has continued to produce outstanding publications that contribute to the development of the field of the natural sciences, as well as conveying the knowledge of these specialized subjects to the general reader.
